Martin Lytke - A visual Transformer

Since 2001 I am painting directly on printed media such as advertising, magazines and vintage art books.

My work of art is more like recognising than painting a present thing, to approach to an object. You can follow me on this path simply by looking at it. Photographic media is a very clear image representations, I change the subject with as little intervention as possible, directly with a brush and acrylic paint. The original photograph remains recognisable, creating an interplay between the old and the new motif into which we easily fall in and out, strangely moving between casual and hyperreal. Some of my works have been acquired by distinguished collectors like Dr. Dr. Thomas Rusche and Dr. Dr Bartlett Hass, a longtime correspondent of Gertrude Stein

As I uncover the sleeping beauty, the blanket crumbles into lumps of clay, transforming to small sculptures of John F. Kennedy as I lay them on the nights dark lawn
